Wooden tray

A project of Claudia Bignoli

Torē, a tray in laser-cut multilayer beech, is the result of a search for a shape with an eye-catching simplicity. My intention was to design an everyday object whose function is clear to see, one which is immediately linked to a convivial and hospitable atmosphere, bringing to its shape the concepts of lightness and movement, and with special focus on the simplicity of production and assembly. Torē draws on the flexibility of wood to generate a form that is both dynamic and practical.

Technique: The Torē tray, in 6mm multilayer beech, is cut to shape using a laser cutting unit. The lateral side elements slot together at right-angles in the lower section, while the upper section, which is split by a longitudinal cut running to the midway point. The ends of the upper strips are curved outwards to form the two unusual handgrips.

Dimensions: 41.5cm x 41.5cm x h. 6cm
