Planisfera

Suspended lamp

A project of KoAl design

Planisfera stems from the idea of combining the traditional beauty of wickerwork with the latest laser cutting technologies in order to create a flat structure (easy and economical to package) which takes on its three-dimensional form when it is used. The three-dimensional form is achieved simply by gravity, and can be shaped to suit the requirements and tastes of the user.

Technique: Planisfera is made with a sheet of wood cut using laser technology. The preliminary prototype was a ceiling-mount version, but the concept is also ideal for a complete range of lamps, including a table-top version.

KoAl design

KoAI design is a two-man team: Costanza Giuffrida (Milano, 1987) and Alberto Gruarin (Pordenone, 1988), young designers who graduated in “Industrial Design” at the Polytechnic University of Milan and later specialised in “Industrial Design” at the Eindhoven University of Technology. Both designers seek to create and produce products which are simple but instantly recognizable, always with an eye to innovation, functional design and the relationship which develops between the object and the user. “We believe that, with a knowledge of the latest production technologies and open-source programming, it is possible to create personalized products and to improve numerous practical aspects of day-to-day life (the aim of design)”.
